Title or Location: Conrad V. Auchter
My spouse?s father passed away two years ago. My artistic mission is to memorialize loved ones so I began experimenting in a variety of mediums in order to capture Conrad?s essence at the twilight of his life. This photo is of my first completed attempt in oil pastel on heavy grade watercolor paper. The effect was striking but my wife wanted a larger and more artistic painting on which I?m currently working on. Once completed, I?d like to post my final painting for comparison and critique

Love this new style of painting I?m doing where I?m only painting what?s in the light. It goes back to the Dutch Masters who highlighted light in their paintings and allowed for huge areas of shadow.

I love mixed media and using texture to create interest. In this piece I used modeling paste, gold foil, acrylic ink, alcohol ink, collage and glitter to create interest and expression. The focus of this piece is definitely her glasses. She sees brightness in the gold and love. If you look closely, her left eye sees I LOVE YOU in different languages. I use this tissue paper a lot in my art. We cannot say I LOVE YOU enough to each other!
